Dr. Albert Chau: Extended Study Programme flourishes in Greater Bay Area with donor support
With the generous support of various donors, the University’s Extended Study Programme (ESP) in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) has achieved remarkable success since its launch in the academic year 2023-2024. Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), would like to extend his heartfelt gratitude to the programme’s benefactors.
He said, “As part of the ‘One University, Two Campuses’ strategy, HKBU has introduced the ESP in the GBA. Local and international HKBU students may study for one semester or one academic year at the Zhuhai campus of the Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU). They also have the opportunity to intern with a variety of organisations within the GBA, broadening their horizons by providing them with first-hand experience of local life and working environments. To reciprocate, BNBU students may also study and join various learning activities for one semester or one year at HKBU. 95 students (including HKBU students from 12 countries/regions) joined the ESP in 2023-2024.
In addition, all HKBU international students have the opportunity to join a three-day immersive tour to the GBA. They will stay in the BNBU campus, attend cultural workshops and a High Table Dinner, and visit heritage sites and companies in the GBA. In 2023-2024, the tour has attracted 380 students from 52 countries/regions.
The ESP and immersive tour are made possible with the generous backing of the University’s supporters. Participants have provided very positive feedback. The experience has deepened their understanding of the Mainland’s history, culture and latest development; while also helping them to build networks that could open doors for them in their future careers.”
